Mechanism of Action: Pregabalin binds to calcium channels in the nervous system, reducing the release of certain neurotransmitter like glutamate, norepinephrine, and substance P. This action helps decrease pain signals and stabilize nerve activity.
Indications:
Neuropathic Pain
Epilepsy
Fibromyalgia
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Off-Label Uses
Chronic Pain Syndromes: Such as low back pain or sciatica.
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): Used in some cases to alleviate symptoms.
Dosage:
🔹 Neuropathic Pain: Start 50 mg BID, max 600 mg/day
🔹 Epilepsy (Adjunct Therapy): Start 75 mg BID, max 600 mg/day
🔹 Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Start 75 mg BID, max 600 mg/day
🔹 Fibromyalgia: Start 75 mg BID, max 450 mg/day
