Composition: Halobetasol 0.05%

Therapeutic Category: Topical Corticosteroid

Mechanism of Action: Halobetasol 0.05% cream is a high-potency corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching by suppressing immune responses and inflammatory mediators. It also narrows blood vessels and slows skin cell turnover, helping conditions like psoriasis. Prolonged use may cause skin thinning and adrenal suppression, so it should be used as directed.

Indications:

 Psoriasis (plaque-type)

 Eczema (atopic dermatitis)

 Lichen planus

 Contact dermatitis (allergic & irritant)

 Seborrheic dermatitis (limited use)

 Other corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses

Dosage:

🔹 Adults & Children (≥12 years)

Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily.

Duration: Use for up to 2 weeks; do not exceed 50g per week.

🔹 Children (<12 years)

Not recommended due to the risk of systemic absorption and side effects like adrenal suppression.

🔹 Elderly Patients

Use with caution; monitor for skin thinning and other adverse effects.
