Mechanism of Action:
In our body, COX-1 enzymes are active and can be found in normal tissues such as the stomach lining, while the COX-2 enzyme is inducible and produces prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever and inflammation. Naproxen, like any other non-selective NSAID is known to exert its clinical effect (analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic) by blocking both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes leading to a decreased prostaglandin synthesis.
Indications:
Indicated for the relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, juvenile arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis
Dosage:
500mg twice daily (500mg BD) or as recommended by the physician
