Research and Development Department

Research and Development Department is responsible for the formulation and development of newer drug products and is involved in overall activities required to commercialize same products in the production floor. Some specific functions of R&D department include:

  • To conduct appropriate literature survey, evaluation of market samples, reference listed drugs (RLDs) in order to perform trial of newer drug products.
  • To conduct preformulation studies including open exposure studies, hold time studies and other experiments that support proper understanding of the characteristics of the formulation.
  • To develop laboratory scale and pilot scale products and perform stability testing of the latter products in order to evaluate shelf-life.
  • To prepare Master Formula Records (MFRs) for all new products developed in R&D for commercialization.
  • To develop adequate systems for technology transfer including required technical aspects of pilot scale batches to production batches intended for marketing.
