Mechanism of Action: Calcium and Vitamin D3 tablets is a fixed combination of calcium and Vitamin D3. The high calcium and vitamin D3 concentration in each dose unit enables sufficient absorption of calcium with a limited number of doses. Vitamin D3 is involved in calcium-phosphorus metabolism. It allows the active absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine and their uptake by bone. Supplementation with calcium and vitamin D3 corrects latent vitamin D deficiency and secondary hyperparathyroidism

Indications:

It is indicated in the following conditions: Used to prevent or treat low blood calcium and Vitamin D3 levels in people who do not get enough calcium and Vitamin D3 from their diets. Also used as an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis or as a therapeutic supplement in established osteomalacia, pregnant patients at high risk of needing such a therapeutic supplementation or malnutrition when dietary intake is less than that required.

Dosage:

Adults and Elderly patients  Adjunctive therapy in osteoporosis: One tablet 2-3 times per day  Calcium and vitamin D deficiency: One tablet 2-3 times per day. Children:  Not recommended for children under 1 year. Dosage in hepatic impairment  No dose adjustment is required Dosage in renal impairment  Calcipan tablets should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment. Dosage during pregnancy  Calcipan Tablets can be used during pregnancy, in case of a calcium and vitamin D deficiency. During pregnancy the daily intake should not exceed 2500 mg calcium and 4000 IU vitamin D.
